March 20 Indians vs Angels - SOLD OUT!
At 7:05 p.m. on Friday, the Indians will host the Los Angeles Angels for a standing-room only crowd (more than 10,311) in what has been another growing year of attendance at Goodyear Ballpark.
This is the third sell-out at the ballpark, now in its seventh season. Goodyear Ballpark’s staff has been ramping up activities with innovative features added to traditional activities that provide fun for fans of all ages. At the time this press release was issued, a limited number of standing-room only seats were available for Friday.
“We expected a large crowd for this game because there’s a lot going on,” said Debbie Diveney, of Goodyear Ballpark. “We have a car club tailgate party before the game, gates open early for Happy Hour (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.), and fireworks after the game. We encourage fans to arrive early because of the amount of fans attending this game.”
It remains to be seen if attendance for Friday’s game will surpass the record-setting game on Tuesday, March 16, 2013 – when the Indians hosted the defending World Champion San Francisco Giants for a night game.
The attendance at that game drew 11,023 fans – the highest number in the ballpark’s fifth anniversary year. On Saturday, March 21, 2009, Goodyear Ballpark’s first sold out crowd was on hand when the Indians hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers for a day game that drew 10,479.
In addition to Friday’s game, there will be three other night games at Goodyear Ballpark with gates opening at 5 p.m. for Happy Hour specials. Fireworks will be after the night game on Friday, March 27.
